Graphic Design BackgroundI adhere to the "keep it simple" principle. I specifically enjoy creating logos, using vibrant colors, and playing with typography. My graphic design background helps me immensely when visualizing new designs, creating layouts, and presenting ideas. See my graphic design portfolio. |

Photography & ArtsI enjoy framing a photograph to create the perfect composition.
I am adept at working with my hands which has sparked my interest in ceramics and stained glass, and now prototyping. I have attended art museums all over the world, including New York City, Chicago, Florence, and Paris. I am especially drawn toward the exquisite detail of Dutch art, the surrealism of Ron Mueck, and the fantastical imagery of Hieronymus Bosch and Salvador Dali. See my photography portfolio. |

Experience Design I want my designs to satisfy people's innermost desires.
Experience design is my most recent field of interest, and one that I am highly passionate about. I have always been vexed by bad design, things that are useless, hard to use and do not take humans into consideration.
The next few items are examples of some older work. See more in my portfolio. Due to confidentiality, my newest work is not available online. |

StoryWalk Creating family experiences, while also introducing children to the healthy habit of walking.
Tasked with the wicked problem of "motivating people to walk", my team designed a solution through the use of an interactive storytelling device that encourages families to take a walk. As the family walks, they must follow instructions in the story to find the next part of the story. Read More |

Museum Experience Design Creating immersive and embodied experiences for everyone. The challenge in this project was to create an experience that also accommodated people with disabilities, rather than focusing on task accomplishment. By researching multiple disabilities and existing museum experiences, my team developed an exhibit which promoted social interaction, limited mobility requirements, and no textual elements. |

Experience Design PrinciplesUsing stand-up comedy as a case study for understanding experience.
As a long-time fan, I explored the people who enjoy these shows and what makes the live experience so intriguing. The results were broadly applicable principles of experience design. The six principles are: localized spontaneity, ad-hoc community, performer interaction, subculture entrenched, adrenaline rush, and opportunity for reflection. Read more |

Course Registration System Understanding users' desires to create a superior design.
The purpose of this project was to reimagine a very poorly designed college course registration system. In this self-motivated and independent project, I spoke with current students and examined the functionality of the current system to design a more useful and usable system. After three iterations using a hybrid of participatory design and user testing, I had created a system which addressed the users' true needs and motivations. Read More |

Friend-O-Meter Prototype Creating a quick proof of concept prototype for rapid evaluation. To gain experience with prototyping in HTML, I chose to develop my concept for a "Friend-o-Meter" mobile application. The concept is a location-aware mobile application that finds information about the people near you (based on online profiles) and matches them to your own interests. See the prototype (made for mobile). Also, read more about the project. |
